How to Build a Dessert Bucket List
A practical guide to creating your personal list of must-try treats, from local spots to international classics.
Everyone has a travel bucket list. A career bucket list. Maybe even a restaurant bucket list. But a dessert bucket list? That's the one that's actually fun to work through.
Start with what you already love
Your bucket list should include aspirational versions of treats you already enjoy. If you love ice cream, add specific shops and flavors you've heard about. If you're a cookie person, track down the famous spots in cities you plan to visit. Build from your existing preferences outward.
Add regional specialties
Every region has treats you can only really experience there. Beignets in New Orleans, key lime pie in the Florida Keys, lobster tail pastries in New York, kolaches in Texas. These are the items that make a bucket list actually interesting, because you have to go somewhere to cross them off.
Include things you've never tried
Push yourself. Add a whole category you've never explored: mochi, baklava, churros con chocolate, mille-feuille, gulab jamun. You don't have to know if you'll like them. The point is to try them and find out. Some of the best entries in my Treatly collection are things I tried for the first time and didn't expect to love.
Track your progress
A bucket list only works if you actually use it. Every time you cross something off, log it in Treatly with a photo, rating, and notes. Over time your bucket list becomes a record of accomplishment, a visual map of all the sweet things you've experienced.
